Wolverton, Mercedes “Mercy”
Mercedes “Mercy” Wolverton is a Cybersecurity Engineering major at George Mason
University. She attended the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering in
Huntsville, AL, and completed college coursework at Calhoun Community College as
dual enrolled student. Mercy was homeschooled for the majority of her education which
afforded her the time to hone her expertise in coding, computer science, and 3D
printing. Mercy manages all technology for Log Cabin Schoolhouse where she also
teaches and tutors students in coding in Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Lua. She
has mentored four Technovation teams, including one that advanced to the semi-finals
of the annual competition. She also served as a teaching assistant at a TechGirlz event
and taught computer science concepts and Python programming at the Global Roots
Homeschool Co-Op. Mercy was the recipient of an NCWIT Award for Aspirations in
Computing and an America’s Promise Alliance grant for her robotics work.
