Peterson, Karl

Karl Peterson has been playing chess for fifty years and teaching chess for fifteen years. He is a member of the US Chess Federation (USCF) where he is also a certified tournament director. Karl is a regular at the DC Chess League and the Arlington Chess Club, where he has earned a rating of 1700. He tied for first place in the Virginia Chess Federation Senior Open in 2018. Karl taught chess classes at Compass through Snow’s Chess Academy before launching his own chess program, and he also works as a private chess instructor. He earned a BA in Geography and Urban Planning from Florida State University and a BA in History with a minor in Classical Studies from South Florida State University.
