Dr. Alina Kirshon-Goldman has been teaching private voice, viola and violin lessons to students of all ages in Northern Virginia: Reston, Herndon and Arlington area since she opened her studio in 2010. Many of her students play with the area, district and regional orchestras in Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun  counties. Her voice students perform with the National Children’s Chorus and Washington National Opera Children’s chorus. Over the years, Alina taught private lessons, group lessons and directed summer camps.


Alina completed a doctoral degree in Voice Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory where she was awarded with the Dean’s Scholarship Award for her research in the field of Israeli classical music. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Alina is a talented, multi-faceted performer, musician, and teacher. As an opera singer, Alina has performed with Maryland Lyric Opera, Washington National Opera, Loudoun Lyric Opera and Israeli Opera. Over the course of her career, she has participated in international festivals and competitions in Europe, Israel, and the United States. Alina is an active member of Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association where she has served in a variety of positions such a co-chair of the concerto competition, Strings Achievement Award Competition, String Judged Recital, and co-chair for educational programing. In the field of vocal performance, Dr. Kirshon-Goldman has spent additional time on the anatomy of vocal production and the craft of story-telling, two skills which support her belief that “anyone can learn to sing!” At Compass, Alina is offering private instruction in violin, viola, and voice ranging from musical theater-style, pop, rock, classical, or opera.
