Dr. Alina Kirshon-Goldman completed a doctoral degree in Voice Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. She earned her bachelor’s and masters degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. She is a talented, multi-faceted performer, musician, and teacher. As an opera singer, Alina has performed with Maryland Lyric Opera, Washington National Opera, and Israeli Opera. Over the course of her career, she has participated in international festivals and competitions in Austria, the Czech Republic, Israel, and the United States. Alina is an active member of Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association where she has served in a variety positions such a co-chair of the concerto competition, Strings Achievement Award Competition, String Judged Recital, and co-chair for educational programing. She is a regular contributor to American Music Teacher Magazine providing her feedback to newly published violin literature. Alina is also a recipient of a 2016 teacher enrichment grant from the MTNA foundation fund. In the field of vocal performance, Dr. Kirshon-Goldman has spent additional time on the anatomy of vocal production and the craft of story-telling, two skills which support her belief that “anyone can learn to sing!” At Compass, Alina is offering private instruction in violin, viola, and voice ranging from musical theater-style, pop, rock, classical, or opera.
