Capital MMA & Elite Fitness is a valued Compass partner which provides the commercial fitness equipment and youth fitness curriculum used in Compass PE, self defense, and jiu jitsu classes. Capital MMA was formed in 2001 at an Alexandria magnet school. Since then, Capital MMA has continued to develop a evidence-based kids’ curriculum that includes aerobic fitness and muscle strengthening which improve confidence, problem-solving skills, and academic performance. Compass’s Coach Iman Castaneda has trained in the Captial MMA method which emphasizes a “safe, friendly, and fun training environment.” She will be offering daytime workouts and small group classes for Compass parents and evening workouts for the community using the Capital MMA program.
