Year-End Testing & Evaluations Now at Compass
Compass has two new services to help homeschool families meet Virginia state requirements for Evidence of Progress reporting. Starting in March, Compass will be offering the BASI Survey standardized test and individual evaluations. These services are open to all homeschool families, including those who do not attend Compass classes.
Standardized Testing
Students may take the Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI) Survey, a simple test with 25-minute verbal section and 25-minute math section, where all grades (2nd-12th) meet together, and everyone receives a token prize to celebrate completing the test. At $30.00, the BASI through Compass is more affordable than the CAT Survey, CAT 6, Stanford Online, or Iowa Test of Basic Skills tests through regional test providers. Sign up for one of 4 test sessions online.
Evaluator Meeting
Alternatively, families can sign up for individual meetings with an Evaluator. The evaluator is a Compass staff member who has a Masters of Elementary Education and understands the different paths of homeschooling children and teens of all learning profiles: on-level, accelerated, gifted, 2E, red-shirted/delayed entry, asynchronous, and neurodiverse. Her individualized evaluations reflect her knowledge of various homeschool approaches, learning styles, and educational platforms. Sign up for a casual, comfortable evaluator meeting during Compass hours (10am-3pm). You will be contacted to schedule a 30-minute meeting at a mutally agreeable time.
Read more about these options on the new Evidence of Progress webpage and sign up for testing or an evaluation on the Activity Fees webpage.
