New Year’s Resolution: Encourage Active Kids!
If you have a New Year’s resolution to help your kids become more active, Compass has several fun, physical classes to get them out of the house and out from behind the screen this winter. The CDC reminds us that physical activity in kids improves memory, concentration, and “on-task behaviors” along with reducing anxiety. The following small-group classes begin this month:
Tuesdays, Starting Jan. 16
- Swimming: Young Beginners, 9:15 am (PreK-K)
- Swimming: Beginners & Advanced Beginners, 10:05 am (1st-3rd)
- Swimming: Beginners & Advanced Beginners, 11:05 am (4th-6th)
- Swimming: Intermediate, 12:05 pm (2nd-6th)
- FUNctional Fitness and Cross-Training (PE): Kids, 1:00 pm (2nd-4th)
- FUNctional Fitness and Cross-Training (PE): Tweens, 12:00 pm (5th-8th)
Wednesdays, Starting Jan. 17
- Krav Maga Self Defense for Kids, 11:00 am (5th-8th)
- Fencing for Young Beginners, 1:00 pm (2nd-4th)
- Fencing for Beginners & Advanced Beginners, 2:00 pm (5th-8th)
Thursdays, Starting Jan. 18

Register for these classes and others online. For other physical options, consider these additional Compass classes: Nature Quest (4 sections), Outdoor Survivor (2 sections), Natural Leaders, Ballet Fun, Ballet Foundations, Music Makers, and Action Dance: Street Party. Fitness classes are held in Compass’s 1000 SF Activity Room, while Nature Quest/Outdoor Survivor, Swimming, and Ballet classes are all held off campus at nearby partner sites.
